How is time important in Watchmen the comic book?
How does the passage of time, our inability to stop time, and time’s repetition affect our understnading of the comic book?
well when you read Dr. Manhattans chapter it goes through him visioning his past and future and how they are related. even though he can see the future to him it is something he cant control because to him it is already happening. to him, what he does isnt by choice but by the puppet strings of time. as he becomes less human and a more logical thinker the more he realizes this and the less he cares about humans and the earth. and it has to do with how everybodys past comes back to haunt them, sally has sex with eddie even though he tried to rape her, laurie was forced to live her mothers dream by becoming a superhero, and in the end she goes back to being a superhero. The human Jon was forced to go into to nuclear science because of his dad, btw he originally wanted him to be a watchmaker. and dans fantasies of flight and aviation as a child is what attracted him to becoming the nite owl, following the original nite owls foot steps. everyone has fallen from there glory and all the old villians are just normal people and the past keeps looking brighter and the future darker.
