What Batman comics to start of with?
I am really new to the Batman world and i need help on which Batman comics to read in story order. i want to read about batman’s disappearance or “death”. and i want to continue reading batman for a long time. so what should i read. some people told me to read RIP batman and then final crisis. but what next please give me a very detailed answer.
If you’ve never read anything Batman before, Batman RIP/Final Crisis would be a difficult place to start, because it involves a lot of characters and plotlines that you’d probably be unfamiliar with. So I’d suggest working up some good background on Batman to begin with. First on your list should definitely be Batman: Year One (by Frank Miller); it’s the definitive origin story of modern Batman, as well as a fabulous Batman story in general. Other good ones to introduce you to Batman’s villains (and allies) are The Long Halloween/Dark Victory (both with writing by Jeph Loeb and art by Tim Sale) and Hush (Jeph Loeb/Jim Lee). Hush is particularly good for introducing you to the modern status quo in the Batman universe, as it’s a fairly recent story.
If you’d rather just jump straight in to Batman RIP, well, don’t say I didn’t warn you! I’d definitely suggest doing some research and reading on Wikipedia, etc. to get the background on characters you’re unfamiliar with first, though.
