superman comics what happened after doomsday?
the last superman comic i read was in the 90′s but i was wondering what happenned after doomsday or at least the next superman comic after i remember a robot superman a dog one but i am looking for the one where superman returns
You’ll want to look for ‘Funeral for a Friend” and “Reign of the Supermen” — they are compilations of the individual comic books from the arc repackaged as 2 graphic novels… the ones leading up to his death are compiled as “The Death of Superman” and the entire arc, from Doomsday’s awakening to the explanation of how he lived and kept his ID secret is the subject of the Novel “The Death and Life of Superman” by Roger Stern
Funeral for a Friend features a nice scene w/ Batman preventing a suicide Bomber during the Ceremony
and FYI there were 4 ‘Supermen’ while he was ‘dead’ 5 if you count Bibbo saving puppies, getting cats out of trees and feeding the homeless and 6 if you count Superman once he got better

Superboy: Clone created by Cadmus labs, meant to be released as an adult w/ mind control implants… not a true clone, as they manipulated Human DNA to mimic Kryptonian DNA: after the fact it was revealed that the source Human DNA was actually Lex’s. released early as a 15/16 yr old w/o the mind control
Steel: former defense Contractor who was living under the radar as a High Steel worker, was saved by Superman and trapped in the Doomsday Fight: when he gets out, he learns Superman is dead, and creates a super suit to help ‘fill in for/honor” Superman — think Ironman– for lack of a better analogy
Cyborg: claimed to be the real one with robotic replacements for the injuries sustained in the Doomsday fight — later revealed to be a former Astronaut who went crazy and mutated due to radiation poisoning
The Kryptonian/Visored one: modified suit w/ over sized S/ and black top w/ Blue stripe down the center, sensitive to direct Sun to the eyes, thus the visor: revealed later to be a new manifestation of The Eradicator” a Kryptonian AI designed to protect/educate Superman
not sure on specific issue numbers… but for clearer picture, you’re better off with the compilations
