Someone wanted to borrow my very expenseive Kirby vaccum. I told them no. I am I a jerk?

My Kirby vaccum is not covered by my insurance. They were not going to bring it back right away. They also wanted it mainly for the carpet shampoo cleaning and not vaccuming. I think a rental cleaner is better any way.

It’s your property if you don’t want to lend it out then you don’t have to. That in itself doesn’t make you a jerk. It’s more like HOW you say no. If you said ‘fuc$ no, dude, get your own d@mn equipment’ yeah that would be categorized in the ‘your a jerk’ pile but if you just said something like ‘I’m sorry but no. It’s not insured and I think renting would be a better way to go for what you want to use it for, anyway.’ then no you aren’t a jerk.
