Showcase Comics

Archives, Showcases and Chronicles comics, which one should I buy?
I am very interested into getting into the older comics like the Golden Age and Silver age and I know those that I listed in the title have the older comics. I just dont understand the difference are between them. Which one would you reccomend and for which hero. I want to read these because I dont have money to pay for a million comics to just stay updated in one particular event.
Archives (Marvel calls it Masterworks instead of Archive) are the best quality reprints; hardcover glossy paper, and color…but they also cost the most ($40 and up)
Chronicles are still color reprints but paperback and sometimes lesser quality of paper. The quality of paper may only apply to DC Chronicles since I know Dark Horse’s Chronicles of Conan books have good quality paper similar to the Archive. Also, Marvel is making paperback versions of their Masterwork archives (so Marvel “chronicles” are also called Masterworks). Cost roughly $20.
Showcases (or Essentials) are large phone book reprints; they are paperback, black-and-white, and newspaper-type paper though the cost is much cheaper and you get more issues reprinted. Very nice if you like to read the stories without breaking your bank account. Cost roughly $15.
I can’t say which type to buy since I think it is personal preference. There is also availability; a lot of times there isn’t a Chronicles book to match a Archives book. My suggestion is to buy the Chronicles when available.
