Wood Tower
Can someone help me built a tower out of basal wood?
Hello all. I kinda need help with building a tower for my sciene project. I need some suggestion and idea from you guys/girls who know how to built the tower. here are the rules to built the tower.
Rule:minimum 50cm tall
Base 20 cm square
from the base to 15cm up(no more than 15cm)the tower must fit into a 8cm diameter circle.
The lighter the tower is the better
The top must be 5cm square or less.
Weight must be add in center of the tower
Only using basal wood and glue for the tower.
This is how they add the wieght. They have this 5cm square with a chain and a hook at the end of the chain. They would put that 5cm square over the top of the tower and the chain will go down the tower. with the hook at the chain, it would put a bucket of 15kg on it. That’s it. Thank for taking your time reading it. Hopefully someone would come along and help.(It would be really helpful if u send me the picture of your design)
I have never built a tower of balsa(?) wood, but in the USA Corps of Engineers we had to build wooden bridges that withstood the weight of a tank! The secret is that a triangle is more stable than a square built of say 2 by 4′s and a post that is perfectly vertical carries more weight than one that is not plumb. Hope that helps a little.
